Manage your heartburn and acid reflux with natural remedies part 2

Suffering from heartburn or acid reflux is not so much an inconvenience especially if you know that there are natural remedies to either prevent the buildup of acid in your stomach or help lower it down in times when it becomes excessive and leads to heartburn.

One of these natural herbal remedies is cinnamon. Aside from being an important ingredient in some pastries, it has also a host of medicinal properties. It has been known for its antiseptic effect as well as its ability to fight off Candiba albicans, one of the causes of feminine itch. It has also been widely used for coughs and colds as well as in the relief of acid reflux.

Using cinnamon for your heartburn is easy. Just toast your raisin bread and butter one side. Then, sprinkle with cinnamon and cardamon. As you eat, chew very slowly and completely. This will induce the digestive enzymes in your mouth to act on the food and break them down properly before you swallow them. Cardamon, on the other hand is a great aid in the treatment of Celiac acid, a condition known as gluten intolerance. Gluten is usually found in breads.

Another way to control the acid in your stomach is through the aid of grapefruit, although make sure to use only the organic fruit. For this remedy, start by grating the outer skin of grape fruit. Gather the skin and spread them in a flat container to dry. When they have dried up almost entirely, store them in a zip lock container or in a glass jar.

If you need relief for your upset stomach, just chew and eat the dried skin of grape fruit. Try eating a few at first and check what it does to your acid reflux. If it was not yet able to settle your stomach, chew and eat some more until the discomfort is gone.

Romaine lettuce could be one of your most important ingredients in your salad but it also greatly helps your problems with acid reflux because this vegetable is highly alkaline. It balances out the acidity of your stomach and therefore prevents heartburn. Including this in your salad menu will do great wonders for the general well-being of your stomach. But in cases of acid reflux, follow this simple instruction in attaining the benefits of Romaine lettuce against your stomach acid disorder.

Choose the organic Romaine lettuce head. Wash the vegetable thoroughly with water and tear up some of the leaves and place in your blender. Add distilled water and honey to taste and blend the concoction. Drink about 4-8 oz to help settle your stomach acids.

Another great help for this condition is a homemade remedy of nutmeg, mace and slippery elm mixture. Prepare a pinch of nutmeg and mace. Add distilled water and put to a boil. Take the mixture from the stove and add a teaspoon of the bark of slippery elm. When the blend is sufficiently cool, drink ½ cup. The remaining portion could be stored in the refrigerator but warm it up if you are drinking another ½ cup again.

Nutmeg is good for indigestion acid reflux, heartburn, stomach gas and vomiting. Slippery elm herb in powdered form is available in most herb store.

The important thing to easily manage and cure heartburn or acid reflux is to douse it with alkaline nutrients. Considering these 4 alternatives for the treatment of your stomach acid will prevent you from ingesting conventional laboratory manufactured drugs instead. Chances are these alternative remedies could be easily found in your kitchen. Try any of these to see their results on you.

Do you usually experience heartburn or acid reflux? Your usual tendency is to go to the drugstore or look inside your medicine cabinet for an antacid. However, do you know that laboratory manufactured over the counter antacids contain aluminum which is said to cause senility and Alzheimer’s disease later in life?

If you want a safer antacid, you might want to try this natural concoction for the prevention of acid reflux so you don’t go reaching towards your medicine cabinet each time to neutralize the acid in your stomach. This has been known to decrease acid in your stomach and prevent heartburn from occurring.

1. Mix together peppermint, aniseed and lavender. Use equal amounts of these three ingredients for the tea infusion.

2. Boil 2 ½ cup of distilled water and pour it over the blend.

3. Allow the herbal concoction to settle for 3-5 minutes to ensure that the healing properties of the herbal plants is properly mixed in the water

4. Remove the herbal mixture and place the tea blend in a thermos.

5. Drink about 8 oz of this tea blend in the morning and another equal amount in the evening. If you prefer, you can add honey to the drink.

· Anise or aniseed is good not just for a variety of remedies for varied stomach conditions; it has also other positive benefits for the entire human body. Use specifically the European anise or sweet anise or the green anise which is an ash-colored type. The other types, the caraway and star anise are not for this particular usage.

· Lavender has been known in the herbal world because of its relaxing scent and its numerous healing properties. It is also especially helpful in regulating stomach acid.

· Peppermint is exceptional in many stomach related conditions including ulcers, gas, stomach cramps and distention as it aids in proper digestion.

You can also try other herbal remedies that target a different aspect on the cause of acid reflux. One of the causes of this condition is the inability of the body to produce sufficient hydrochloric acid which is necessary for the digestion of protein. The undigested protein is the culprit in acid reflux. To prevent this, support your diet with ample supply of hydrochloric acid as well as pepsin and betain for the proper protein digestion. You could also consider papaya, which has papain which does the same job.

On the other hand, you can also opt to reduce protein in your stomach. This can be addressed by pineapple which contains bromelain, an enzyme that helps lower down protein. The fresh juice contains high level of the enzyme that will help you prevent heartburn. This fruit also aid in proper digestion and it helps in wound healing and reduction of inflammation.

Another option for acid reflux is chicory root. Boil this bitter herb in 1 ½ cup of water for 5-10 minutes. Let it cool down to room temperature before drinking the blend. It helps relieve the discomfort of heartburn.

There are many ways to prevent or manage acid reflux or heartburn using the natural remedies. These are just some of them. However, one of the best ways to stay away from this discomforting condition is to have salad in your daily menu. Incorporating these herbs to your salad will ensure better results. Make sure also to include alkaline based foods in your diet, as alkaline counteract best the acid in your stomach.
